Hi Shay!
Angels are so giving to us, so selfless. Is there anything special we can do for them?
Angels visit us on Earth all the time. They come in many different forms, sometimes human, sometimes other. There's ways to tell if they're angels or not. Usually its through a look or a feeling you get the FIRST time you see them. Its a first instinct, gut reaction kind of thing. I had an experience with an angel late last year.
I had pulled in to the parking lot of my favorite music store. The store is part of a strip mall, so it has a fairly large parking lot. As I got out of the car, a man approached me and asked if he could clean my windshield for as much money as I was willing to give him. I looked him in the eye and could tell right off the bat that this was someone sent in to my life so I could give HIM some of the love that *I* receive on a daily basis. I gave him a dollar and proceeded to walk in to the store.
As I was shopping, every now and then I looked through the store's windows out to the parking lot. I was genuinely amazed at the amount of effort and time this man spent on my windows. After making my purchase, I went back out in to the parking lot. I flagged him down and asked him a question, "Why are you doing this?"
"You see, sir, its my daughter's birthday on Saturday. I'm not able to give her much usually, but this time I told myself I was going to be a good father and get her something she'd really enjoy. So I'm out here trying to raise enough money to get her the bike she wants."
Now I'd heard a lot of stories and I'd been panhandled a million times. This time was massively different. His story rung so true I might as well have been telling it to myself.
"Are you hungry?" I asked.
"Yes, sir," he replied, "I haven't eaten all day." I told him I'd buy him lunch. He set his makeshift equipment down, a spray bottle and some newspapers, and he followed me in to the closest restaurant. We received some very strange looks, but it was obvious to me that I was doing the right thing. He ordered a French Dip to go, I paid for it, and we walked back outside. He said one more thing before we parted ways:
"There needs to be more people like you in the world. I love you for what you've done for me today." I told him I loved him, too, and I wished him good luck with his daughter's birthday present.
As I drove away, I realized that that is all that angels want in this world. They want us to love them the way they love us. Its a give and take system, and the amount that they give usually far outweighs the giving that we do.
So if you're wondering what you should do for your angel, or for any angel for that matter, give them some love. Deep down they just want the same kind of love that we want, the unconditional kind.
Love and Prayers, Shay
