Dear Shay -
Is being an angel a state of perfection gained throughout the entire struggling life or just a gift from the Almighty One, the Maker of the universe ?
In other words, shall I, some day be an angel (without any false modesty)?
Are those creatures born or created? Have they gained their status by crossing, climbing, destroying mountains, defeating their "ego" and being gratified by their Maker? I can say there is no spontaneous generation of those beings?
Have you ever heard of the Peace Corps? Its an organization where people apply for positions where they work in impoverished countries helping people that can't help themselves. The application process is very rigorous and not everybody is accepted. The few who make it and are able to complete their tour of duty usually say its the best thing that ever happened to them.
Angel status is much like the Peace Corps. Your whole life is one big application and testing process. If you make it through the process, you're willing, and you're accepted, then you have essentially given over a part of your life to God. Like the Peace Corps, you may request where you're sent and what you want to do, but the final decision is up to God.
As for angels being born or created, God can do whatever He wants, so I'm sure that if He wants certain kinds of angels to do special kinds of things, then He just snaps his fingers and they're there.
Defeating the "ego" basically means defeating your inner fears. Have you ever heard of an angel that was scared of something?
As for you some day being an angel, I'm sure you're on the right track. :)
