Dear Shay -
I just broke up with my boyfriend of 3 1/2 years. I am really scared that I might have given up too soon. I am also seeing a new guy. My life is just turned upside down right now...and I could use some advice.

Dear Shay -
I just broke up with my boyfriend of 3 1/2 years. I am really scared that I might have given up too soon. I am also seeing a new guy. My life is just turned upside down right now...and I could use some advice.
There's this wonderful belief I like to tell people about every time I get a chance to discuss a topic like this. To put it simply: I believe everything happens in the best possible way. This means that any mistakes you made weren't really mistakes, they were just a different way of doing things. Its hard to stomach a belief like this when someone gets hurt or dies, but the thing about this belief is that if you truly believe it, you will live a much more peaceful life and avoid a lot of unnecessary worry and stress. Now, about how it relates to your situation.
You've decided to go with someone new instead of staying with your longtime boyfriend. Don't stress about it. Don't worry about it. You can't go back in time and change what's happened. It all happened in the best possible way it was going to happen. Enjoy the companionship of this new person. Most of all, have faith in your own decision-making skills. You had good reason to leave your boyfriend, or else you wouldn't have left him in the first place. He must've treated you badly or done something that really disagreed with you. Also, what you should remember is that you're not married. If your old boyfriend and yourself change your minds and want to have another go at it, you're more than able to.
I'll be praying for you!
Love and Prayers, Shay
