Becoming a priest, that's a heck of a subject. I have a friend that just graduated from college a couple of years ago with a microbiology degree from a prestigious California University. He's been working different lab jobs and he's applied for medical school. Well, now it looks like he's not going to get in to any of the schools he's applied to. His lifelong dream has been to be a pediatrician. Now it looks like he may not be able to do that. He also happens to be a staunch Catholic. He has been his whole life. Now, with the primary goal falling out of his grasp, he's looking at entering the seminary. I'm going to give him the exact same advice I'm going to give you. Follow me closely here.
You're never going to have any money if you become a priest. You're never going to really have any freedom either. At least not the kind you experience now. Once you step in to that world, you're there. You are sacrificing your entire way of life in order to do God's work. Now, there are many ways to do God's work. There is lots of volunteer work, lots of missionary work, tons of stuff that is not quite so all inclusive as being a priest. So if you're at all wishy-washy about whether or not you want to do it, just do one of the alternatives I've listed above.
You need to be called. You need to be called by God in order to be a priest.
If you are called, then by all means do it. There are not enough priests. The good ones are constantly working, constantly doing God's Will. I think it is the best job that exists. If I felt like I was called, I would do it myself. I just don't feel that that is what God wants me to do. I have lots of things I need to do in this life, and religious work is definitely part of it, but becoming a Catholic priest is not one of those things. At least I don't think so now. Who knows, anything is possible, but right now what God wants me to do when it comes to working for him is by providing this page and my services to the people that need me. And how do I know that what I am doing is the right thing? I spend lots of time in prayer and meditation. I spend lots of time discussing things with my guardian angel. If you need any tips on how to get in contact with your guardian, check out Guardian Tips as well as Deep Communication.
If you're called, do it, if you're not, there are still LOTS of wonderful alternatives. So either way, don't beat yourself up over it. And also, don't let someone else decide whether you should make this decision. Talk to the people that really know. Talk to your angels. I'll be sending signs for you. You'll get a couple of them this week and then one next week. Watch for hugs and make note of when they happen and who gives them to you. Do your best to interpret the signs and if you have any more questions, feel free to write back.
Love and Prayers, Shay
