Let me illustrate to you how God works when it comes to prayers and how He answers them.
When we send a prayer up to Jesus, He begins working on it. However, He works on it in the best way possible, but of course, this means that it is not always the way we want it to work. We, being humans, see things through a very narrow spectrum. We believe that there is only one perfect answer to situations, and that for that situation to work out the way we want it to, it must happen within a certain timeframe and in a certain way. BUT, the Lord looks at things INFINITELY. A prayer said for a dying relative may not save the relative’s life, but he/she might enjoy a very peaceful afterlife, all because of the Loving prayer we said for them. This is why when I pray for people, I ask that Jesus intercede in their life to bring about the best possible outcome. That way, God understands that I am leaving the true judging of the situation up to Him, NOT me.
So what I suggest to you is this…if you can make the situation with your boyfriend work out, then do it. But if the constraints of your life force you to move in a different direction, don’t be sad about it. Accept that a greater happiness may lie down the road for you. It may be a few weeks from now or a few years from now, but realize that if you are praying to Jesus, pure and perfect Love CAN exist in your life…no matter what the circumstances.
